LOPEZ BIOGRAPHY BIOGRAPHY OF SIMON BOLIVAR

Simón Bolívar

Leader of English American independence (Caracas, Venezuela, 1783 - Santa Marta, Colombia, 1830). Born into a family of Basque origin of chivalry native Venezuelan, Simón Bolívar was formed by reading the thinkers of the Enlightenment (Locke, Rousseau, Voltaire, Montesquieu ...) and traveling in Europe. In Paris he made contact with the ideas of the Revolution and Napoleon knew personally and Humboldt. Affiliated with the Masons and imbued with liberal ideas, and in 1805 was sworn in Rome would not rest until we liberate their country from English domination. And, although it lacked military training, Simón Bolívar went on to become the main leader of the war for independence from the English colonies, also provided the ideological base movement through their own writings and speeches.

In 1810 he joined the independence revolution which broke out in Venezuela led by Miranda (taking advantage of the metropolis was occupied by the French army). The failure of that attempt forced to flee the country Bolivar in 1812, took up the reins of the movement, launching from Cartagena de Indias a manifesto inciting to rebellion again, correcting the mistakes of the past (1812).

In 1813 he launched a second revolution, which came in triumph in Caracas (in the time data by the City Council grant the title of Libertador). Yet there was a new realistic reaction, under the direction of Morillo and Bobes, who reconquered the country to the English Crown, driving Bolívar to Jamaica (1814-15), but it made a third revolution between 1816 and 1819, which would give the control of the country.

Bolivar dreamed of forming a large confederation that would unite all the former English colonies in America, modeled on the United States. Therefore not satisfied with the liberation of Venezuela, crossed the Andes and defeated the English royalist troops in the Battle of Boyacá (1819), which gained independence in the Viceroyalty of New Granada (now Colombia). It brought together a congress in Angostura (1819), which produced a constitution for the new Republic of Colombia, which encompassed what is now Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Panama, the same Simón Bolívar was elected president of the "Gran Colombia". Released after the hearing Quito (now Ecuador) in conjunction with Sucre, after winning the battle of Pichincha (1822).

That same year he met Simón Bolívar in Guayaquil with the other great leader of the independence movement, San Martín, who had liberated Argentina and Chile, to see how to cooperate in the liberation of Peru, the two leaders clashed in their ambitions and in their political assessments (as San Martin was inclined to create monarchical regimes led by European princes), giving up San Martin to launch a struggle for power and leaving the field open to Bolivar (shortly after he would go to Europe).

Bolivar could then take charge of the insurrection of Peru, the last bastion of the continent that resisted the English, taking advantage of internal dissensions of the rebels in the country (1823). In 1824 won the most decisive victories in the battle of Ayacucho, which determined the order of the English presence in Peru and throughout South America. The recent outbreaks realistic Upper Peru was settled in 1825, creating there the Bolivar Republic (now Bolivia). Bolivar, president and Colombia (1819-30), he was also of Peru (1824-1926) and Bolivia (1825-1926), implemented in the last two republics a constitutional model called "tyrannical" a president for life and hereditary.

But Bolivar's military successes were not matched by comparable political achievements. His tendency to exercise power in a dictatorial aroused great reluctance, and the project of a united Latin America great hit with the sentiments of former viceroys particularistic, hearings and general captaincy of the English Empire, which ended local elites seeking political independence separately.

3000 million people suffer some degree of malnutrition in the world

want this information shared

October 16 was held on World Food Day was proclaimed in 1979 by the Conference of the United Nations Organization for Agriculture and Food (FAO). The commemoration of this day seeks to raise awareness about world food problem and strengthen solidarity in the fight against hunger, malnutrition and poverty.
Last June, the FAO warned that the number of people who suffer famine this year would be the highest in the history of mankind. The figure would skirt the 1.02 billion people in the world, being the main cause of this situation, the increase in food prices due to the economic crisis mundial.Desde then the situation has not changed. Indeed, last week the United Nations Organization (UNO) reiterated that the famine had significantly increased in the last two years, and the number of undernourished people reach 3000 million, nearly half the world population estimated at 6500 million.
Director World Food Programme (WFP), Josette Sheeran, was tasked to present the data again and warned that nearly half the world's population wakes up and does not even have a cup of food. He stressed that this situation is "critical to peace, security and stability in many parts of the world."
According to FAO, in Latin America people suffering from hunger rose from 45 million to 53 million in recent years, with Colombia the country the problem has become more serious since there is growing hunger rather than Subahariana Africa, where in the world with the highest rates of malnutrition and starvation. 12 out of 100 Colombian children suffer from chronic malnutrition and 22 million people suffer from hunger to some degree.
The situation is alarming and must be aware of the danger posed to be increasing, especially in our region, an area of rich farmland. The problem is that most of the land is controlled by a tiny portion of its inhabitants. In fact, in Colombia 1% of the population controls 50% of farmland. These figures are
call upon the international community to be alert because of continuing increase could affect us all equally. Do not let the problem grow further and we contribute with whatever is in our power to overcome, starting with not wasting food or be exuberant when food shopping. TAKEN

first member of the administration of President Barack Obama who resigned in protest against U.S. war

first member of the administration of President Barack Obama who resigned in protest against U.S. war
Matthew Hoh, a State Department official with responsibility for Afghanistan, is the first member of the administration of President Barack Obama who resigned in protest against U.S. war in that country, reported Tuesday by The Washington Post.
"I do not understand nor do I have confidence in the purposes strategic U.S. presence in Afghanistan, "Hoh wrote on September 10 in a letter to Chief of Staff of the Department of State.
"I have doubts and reservations about our recent strategy and our strategy planned for the future, but my resignation was based not on how we conduct this war, but why and for what purpose," he added.
Hoh, a former captain in the Marines with combat experience in Iraq, he served as uniform at the Pentagon, then as a civilian in Iraq and, since January, the Department of State.
Last July, the Post reported, Hoh became the U.S. civil servant highest-ranking official in the Afghan province of Zabul, which has a strong presence of the Taliban.
"Last month, Hoh, 36, became the first U.S. official known to resignation in protest against the Afghan war, he believes, has strengthened the insurgency," the newspaper said.
The reaction to the letter of Hoh was immediate, the paper said "the highest ranking U.S. officials, concerned about the loss of an outstanding staff that could become a prominent critic, asked him to remain in office."
U.S. Ambassador in Afghanistan, Karl Eikenberry, "Hoh moved to Kabul and offered him a position at the embassy. Hoh did not accept the offer. From there he was taken to a face to face meeting with Richard Holbrooke, the special representative of the Government of Afghanistan and Pakistan Obama. " Hoh
The letter was taken "very seriously and, given its commitment and its antecedents, we believe that we should pay close attention," Holbrooke told the newspaper.
Holbrooke noted that although no Hoh accept the view "that is not worth fighting this war," he does agree with much of the analysis done by the retiring official. Hoh
says many Afghans fighting against the United States simply because there are U.S. troops in Afghanistan, and because Washington supports a corrupt government.
According to Hoh, "while the Taliban are an evil presence and you have to fight Al Qaeda in Pakistan, the United States asked his soldiers to die in Afghanistan for what is essentially a distant civil war," the Post .
President Obama continues his consultations with military commanders and civilian experts from the Government on an increase of U.S. troops in Afghanistan, invaded the country eight years ago and in which there are now about 60,000 U.S. soldiers.
"I want people in Iowa, Arkansas, people in Arizona, across the country call their representatives in Congress and tell them: 'Hey, I think this is wrong', "Hoh said the newspaper.

"If you do not leave Afghanistan, return the Prize" Ali recalls once

Letter from Michael Moore Obama

Dear President Obama, I'm glad today is recognized as a man of peace. Their rapid, early pronouncements, the closure of Guantanamo, bringing troops home from Iraq, his desire for a world free of nuclear weapons, the Iranians admit that overthrew their democratically elected president in 1953, the delivery of a large speech to the Islamic world in Cairo, eliminated the term futile "War on Terror," which puts an end to torture, all this has made us feel a little safer, considering the disaster of the past eight years . In eight months you have made a spin and has led this country into even more sana.Pero ... The irony that has been given this award on the second day of the ninth year of what is fast becoming its war in Afghanistan has not gone unnoticed anyone. You're really at a crossroads. You can listen to the generals and expand the war (only to give rise to an expected loss) or you can declare Bush's wars have ended, and bring all troops home now. That is what a true man of peace would. There is nothing wrong with that you do what the last guy could not do, "catch the man or men responsible for the mass murder of 3,000 people on 9 / 11. But you can not do with tanks and tropas.Usted is chasing a criminal, not an army. You do not use a stick of dynamite to get rid of a mouse. The Taliban are nothing. That is a challenge facing the people of Afghanistan as we did in 1776, the French in 1789, Cubans in 1959, Nicaraguans in 1979 and the population of East Berlin in 1989 - One thing is certain, all revolutions carried out by people who want to be free, ultimately, have to achieve freedom for themselves. Others may be supportive, but freedom can not be delivered from the front seat of the Humvee's other persona.Ahora you have to end our involvement in Afghanistan. If you do not, you will have no choice but to return the prize Oslo.Saludos. Michael Moore.
PD Their opposition has spent the morning attacking him for bringing such good will to our country. Why do they hate both the United States? It seems to me that if you discovered the cure for cancer this afternoon they had been denounced for destroying free enterprise, because the cancer centers would close. There are others who say that you have not done anything yet to deserve this award. As for me concerned, the mere fact that you have been offered to walk into a minefield of hate and try to undo the irreparable damage caused to the last president, is not only appreciated by me and by millions, but also an act of true courage . So you got the prize. The whole world depends on USA and you to literally save the planet. Not disappoint.

Maybe, there
radical loneliness,
more lonely, very lonely

that dissolves me?

Maybe, there will be another cold

more icy glacial

LIFE OF SANTA ROSA DE LIMA

Santa Rosa de Lima Biography

Virgin "Rosa de Santa Maria" Patroness of America, Peru and the Philippines Fiesta: 30 August

Born in Lima (Peru) 1586, while living at home, and devoted himself to a life of piety and virtue, and when clothed in the habit of the Third Order of St. Dominic, did great progress in the path of penance and contemplation mystique. He died on 24 August 1617.
Rosa de Lima, the first canonized American saint, was born of English descent in the capital of Peru in 1586. His parents are humble Gaspar de Flores and Maria de Oliva.

Although the girl was named after Elizabeth, it was commonly called Rosa and that was the only name that won the Confirmation by the Archbishop of Lima, Santo Toribio. Rosa took to St. Catherine of Siena by type, in spite of opposition and ridicule from their parents and friends. On one occasion, his mother crowned him with a garland of flowers to show off to some visitors and Rose stuck a fork of the wreath on the head, with the intention to do penance for this vanity, so that later had considerable difficulty in removing it. As people often praised its beauty, Rosa used to rub the skin with pepper to disfigure and not be an occasion of temptation for anyone.

Santa Rosa de Lima

A lady did a day some compliments about how smooth the skin on your hands and the fineness of his fingers and immediately the holy hand rubbed with mud as a result of which could not dress themselves in a month. These and other austerities even more surprising they prepared to fight against external dangers and his own senses. But Pink knew very well that all It would be useless if not banished from his heart all self-love, whose source is pride, because that passion is able to hide even in prayer and fasting. Thus, began to attack the self-esteem through humility, obedience and the abnegation of the will. Although he was able to oppose their parents for a just cause, I never disobeyed or away from the most scrupulous obedience and patience on the difficulties and contradictions.

Rosa had to suffer greatly by those who did not understand.

Rosa's father failed in a mine, and the family was in difficult economic circumstances. Rosa worked the whole day in the garden, sewed a part of the night and thus help support the family. The saint was happy with his lot and never have tried to change it, if their parents had not wanted to induce her to marry. Rosa fought them for ten years and made a vow of virginity to confirm your decision to live devoted to God.

After those years, he joined the Third Order of St. Dominic, in imitation of St. Catherine of Siena. Since then, virtually became a recluse in a cabin he had built in the garden. She wore on her head a silver ribbon, whose interior was full of tips and serving as a crown of thorns. His love of God was so hot that when he spoke of it, change the tone of his voice and his face lit up as a reflection of the sentiments that his soul. This phenomenon manifested itself, especially when the saint was in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament or in communion united his heart to the Source of Love Extraordinary

testing and thanks.

God gave special thanks to his servant, but also allowed for fifteen years suffer the persecution of his friends and acquaintances, while his soul was seen engulfed in the deepest spiritual desolation.

The devil troubled with violent temptations. The only advice I knew how to give those who consulted was that it ate and slept more. Later, a commission of priests and holy doctors examined and ruled that their experiences were indeed supernatural.

Rosa spent the last three years of his life in the house of Don Gonzalo de Massa, a government employee whose wife had a particular affection. During the long and painful illness that preceded his death, the girl's prayer was: "Lord, increase my sufferings, but to the same extent increase my your love."

God called to Himself on August 24, 1617, thirty-one years of age. The chapter, Senate and other city dignitaries took turns to carry her body to the grave.

Pope Clement X canonized in 1671.

Although not everyone can imitate some of his ascetic practices, it certainly challenges us all to provide us with more passion to the beloved, Jesus Christ. It is this passion of love that must move us to live our vocation to holiness embracing our whole heart, whether in the world, in the desert or the cloister.

Gaius Julius Caesar Octavian Augustus MARTIN

Julio César Octavio Augusto

Biography Julius Caesar Octavian Augustus

Gaius Julius Caesar Octavian) First Roman emperor (?, 63 BC - Nola, Napoli, 14 AD). Came from a wealthy family of equestrian order Veletri (his grandfather was a banker and his father, praetor of Macedonia). Through her mother was grand-nephew of Julius Caesar, who adopted him at 45 a. C. and appointed him his heir.

After the death of Caesar (44), engaged in fighting that had been his lieutenant, Mark Antony, for it had the support of Cicero and the Senate Republicans, who expected Caesarist divide facing each other; also had the support of major financial (as sponsors), which allowed him to afford their own army.

After defeating Mark Antony at the battle of Modena, the Senate demanded the appointment of consul, rejected by his youth (he was only 20 years), marched on Rome and took power without a fight, as the legions sent against him preferred support you.

Since 43 BC C. Thus, Octavian Augustus was consul and was granted extraordinary powers. Faced with the resistance of the Republican Brutus and Cassius, strong in the East, Octavian decided to ally with their former Antony and Lepidus enemies (interview of Bologna, 43) and form them into a triumvirate. Thus began the persecution of Republicans (who died in Cicero), culminating in the battle of Filippi in Macedonia (42). Outcast

Lepidus, Octavius actually handed power to Marco Antonio, leaving the latter the east, while he remained in Rome and controlled the western part. The confrontation between the two led to the War of Perugia (41), in which the military leader of Octavian Augustus, Agrippa, defeated the St. Anthony. The conference in Brindisi (40) established a new division of spheres of influence among the triumvirate: Octavio dominated in the West, Marco Antonio in the East limited, reaching only to the Drin River (in Albania); Lepidus in Africa, and Italy was considered neutralized under the rule set of the triumvirate. The marriage between the sister of Octavian and Antony sealed the peace that was maintained for four years.

addition, 39 Sextus Pompey was Sicily, Sardinia, Corsica and Achaia, with a commitment to maintain supplies of grain to Rome, but in 36 Octavio had to deal with Sextus Pompey, whom he defeated at the Battle of Nauloque ( Sicily). Octavio Augusto's government became popular in the West by virtue of its momentum to agriculture and the integration of the provinces with Rome.

Meanwhile, Marco Antonio had succumbed to the influence of Cleopatra VII of Egypt and practiced an oriental policy, not conducive to the interests Romans Octavio exploited this fact in his favor, declaring war on Cleopatra at 32 ("War Ptolemaic "). After the naval victory of Actium (31), came into Alexandria, where Antony and Cleopatra committed suicide (30). With the annexation of Egypt, Octavio gave Rome control of the Mediterranean. Building on its reputation

, Octavio transformed the political regime of the Roman Republic into a kind of monarchy which receives the names of the Principality and Empire: the new consisted of a balance of power between the Senate and the Roman people, on the one hand, and the emperor and his house, on the other.

Initially, it was renewed every year term as consul alone, which was reaffirmed by adding new titles to its power; princeps senatus (the first of the senators) in 28 a. C.; augustus (religious title that reflected his divine mission) and imperator proconsular of Gaul, Hispania and Syria (which gave the military command) in 27; tribune for life (with veto power over decisions of the judges) in 23; Consul for life and customs prefect in 19, high priest (religious head of the Empire) in 12, and "father of the homeland "in year 2 a. C. While

rejected his deification in life, Octavio Augusto advantage in their favor the cult of genius, encouraging a cult of the emperor who became an additional link between the inhabitants of the Empire. Similarly, reformed the Roman institutions, adapted to the need to manage an empire so vast: it created the Prince, the governing body composed of men of his confidence (Agrippa, Maecenas.) Divided the senatorial provinces (entrusted to a governor without military commander appointed by the Senate) and imperial (governed by a legacy of the emperor), reorganized the tax system, subjecting it to their management directly and making it less burdensome, protected the cult, favored the equestrian order against the senatorial aristocracy, said the limits of the Empire against the Parthians and the Germans, and continued expansion in the area of the Danube and Black Sea. Among the weaknesses of power highlights the successor have not (had no sons of his three marriages); eventually adopt her son Tiberius, which partnered in power from 13 d. C., and easily would happen after his death.
