The Martyr Peruvian medicine.
The August 13, 1857 was born in the city of Cerro de Pasco (Peru), Daniel Alcides Carrión García, the son of Don Baltasar Carrión, a graduate lawyer and physician at the University of Guayaquil and his mother Dolores García Navarro, Peruvian native Quillacocha, Cerro de Pasco.
His primary studies conducted in his hometown, he attended high school in the College of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Lima.
Medicina.en began his studies at the Faculty of San Fernando, in the old cloisters of the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos.
During his medical studies, he felt deep interest in understanding two diseases characteristics of some Peruvian central valleys: one, known by the name "Oroya fever," characterized by fever and progressive anemia, despite the treatment being effected at the time, had a fatality close to 100%.
Another process called "Peruvian wart," had the same geographical distribution, but benign, with the sudden appearance of skin nodules and few constitutional symptoms. Until then it was considered that both boxes had different etiologies.
