Quinones is one of the heroes of Peruvian aviation. Achieved fame by performing inverted flights a meter above the ground in a stunt plane Caproni Ca 113. He died in combat on July 23, 1941 in Quebrada Seca, during war with Ecuador. The Peruvian government declared a national hero, establishing July 23 as the Day of the Air Force of Peru.
Quiñones was born April 22, 1914 in the port of Pimentel in the department of Lambayeque. His parents were José María Quiñones Arizola and Maria Juana Rosa Gonzales. Studied the primary stage in San Jose National College in Chicago, whose director, Karl Weiss, boosted glider flight activity to which aficionados Quiñones and others of his peers.
In 1928, as decided by their parents, Quiñones moved to Lima and studied in secondary schools and Our Lady of La Recoleta of Guadalupe. In 1935 he became a cadet at the Central School of Aviation "Jorge Chavez." In the officers' school noted for its ability to adapt to different driving techniques and graduated as an ensign in the specialty of a fighter pilot.
In 1941, when war broke out between Peru and Ecuador, Quiñones air squadron set out on a hunting mission to retrieve the border. During an attack on the Zarumilla River, Quinones was hit by antiaircraft fire. Colonel Octavio A.
